Amy ran for Vigo County School Board at the height of the pandemic, declaring in the summer of 2020. The race was crowded, with with five opponents vying for two seats. Amy came out on top with a 5% lead.

In 2021,  she served as Secretary of the Board and in 2022  was elected to serve as Vice President. She also works on the Policy and Finance committees and serves as the School Board representative and Mayoral appointment on the Terre Haute Redevelopment Commission. In 2021, Amy joined the Terre Haute Rotary Club and has been invited to serve on its Board in the coming year.

Amy loves Terre Haute and Vigo County, and there is no where else she would rather serve. (Read the Tribune Star article, "It's Beautiful Here.") She is also a firm believer in the value of quality public education, crediting her experience in the system as setting both her and her husband up for lifelong success. She feels strongly that it is her turn to give back and preserve and improve the system that served her.

The vision VCSC has put forward in its strategic plan a clear path toward a brighter future for our entire community by addressing long-standing financial issues, facility improvement needs, and creating student opportunities for the modern world.
